Uromi Robbery: Obaseki Expresses Shock

…Says Robbery Well Coordinated

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed shock at the way the robbers raid on four banks in Uromi, Esan North-Eas Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday was carried out.

Obaseki who visited the robbery scenes which affected four banks described the robbery as ‘well organised’ on Friday.

The banks which were attacked include Unity Bank, Union Bank, UBA and Zenith Banks, all located at Market Road in Uromi.

The Governor was represented by his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu.

He was accompanied in the visit by heads of security agencies who were led in the assessment of the affected banks by the Area Commander of Uromi Police Headquarters, Tarzan Tsav.

Obaseki assured the security had been beefed up in Uromi and the surrounding communities and urged them to go about their normal duties.

“This attack is a well organised crime. We have heard from the people and have increased surveillance in the area. We are here on behalf of the governor to find out what happened and know the extent of the damage.

“We are here on a fact-finding mission and have interacted with bank officials, eye witnesses, traders and people living in the area and seen the level of destruction and damage done.

“I am here with all the security chiefs and have seen the damage and beefed up security in the area. I urge all living in the area to go about their normal businesses”, he said.

The Governor’s team also visited the palace of the Ojuromi of Uromi, HRH Anslem Odaloighe Eidenojie Il and assured the monarch of government’s commitment to security in the area.
