Valentine Ozigbo, the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, has detailed his plans to tackle rising insecurity and Anambra’s infrastructural deficit.

Mr Ozigbo made the submission on Saturday, October 2, 2021, when he held a town hall event with Anambra indigenes living in Rivers State.

While answering questions from participants at the event held at Jevinik Place, Port Harcourt, Ozigbo stated that multilateral agreements with relevant authorities would significantly increase intelligence gathering and reduce the crime rate in Anambra State.

According to the Ozigbo, if elected into office, his administration would explore short-term and long-term solutions to tackle Anambra’s insecurity problems.

Before the respected business leader began his speech, he asked the audience to observe a minute’s silence for the souls of the people killed in the most recent wave of violence in the state.

“For seven years, I served as the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hilton, which is the second most secure piece of real estate in Nigeria after the Presidential Villa,” Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning CEO, said.

“To make this possible, we partnered with the American, Israeli, and other relevant embassies with hi-tech security apparatus to ensure that our guests enjoy a safe stay.

“In the long-term, we will push for the restructuring of Nigeria to allow for regional and state police. State police will increase effective intelligence gathering because no one knows a locality like the indigenes.

“If this is implemented, it will encourage healthy competition within police formations across states and minimise crime to the barest minimum.

When asked about his plans to revamp infrastructure in Anambra State, Ozigbo asserted that the “Partnership Approach” in his Ka Anambra Chawapu Manifesto could serve as an effective tool for rapid infrastructural growth within the state.

“We will encourage wealthy Anambra indigenes to invest in their localities by equaling their investments,” Ozigbo said.

Accompanied by his wife, Ojiugo Ozigbo, he presented the Ka Anambra Chawapu Manifesto to Ndi Anambra in the oil-rich state, describing it as “the most comprehensive document detailing Anambra’s problems and offering modern solutions to usher in an era of greatness”.

Ozigbo’s interaction with Ndi Anambra is the latest instalment of a series of similar events held with Anambra indigenes in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, and Ebonyi states.

The event, which attracted prominent Anambra sons and daughters in Rivers State, was also attended by a host of PDP leaders, directors and members of the Anambra PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation led by the Chairperson Senator Uche Ekwunife and Hon Obinna Chidoka, the lawmaker representing Idemili North and Idemili South at the Federal House of Representatives.

Valentine Ozigbo is a respected business mogul and the Founder of the Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, one of Nigeria’s leading non-profit organisations, aimed at empowering youth and women and raising a new generation of leaders.

Since emerging as the PDP governorship candidate in June 2021, Ozigbo has continued to deepen the conversation and endearing himself to Ndi Anambra across the world. His inspiring story and grassroots campaign has seen him emerge as the favourite to win the November 6 guber poll.
