The electrifying West Africa Derby delivered another captivating chapter today as Nigeria secured a decisive 36-run victory over regional rivals Sierra Leone in Match 4 of the ongoing West Africa Trophy 2025.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Nigeria posted an imposing total of 177/6, showcasing confidence and attacking flair. Vincent Adewoye led the charge with a composed yet powerful 49 off 34 balls, supported brilliantly by the explosive Isaac Okpe, who hammered 35 from just 15 deliveries at a strike rate of 233.33. Their contributions ensured Nigeria set a formidable target on a pristine Abuja surface.

Sierra Leone fought back admirably with the bat, anchored by a resilient half-century from John Bangura, who compiled 52 off 51 balls. Despite his efforts, the team struggled to accelerate against Nigeria’s well-structured bowling attack and concluded their innings at 141/5, falling short by 36 runs.

The star of the match was once again Nigeria’s pace spearhead Prosper Useni, who delivered another commanding performance with figures of 3/29 from his 4 overs. His timely breakthroughs and relentless pressure proved crucial in containing Sierra Leone’s chase. With this display, Useni secured his second Player of the Match award in the tournament, solidifying his status as one of the standout performers of the West Africa Trophy 2025.
