The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned several lists of purported candidates circulating on social media in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, describing them as fake and unauthorized.

In a statement issued on June 18, 2026, the National Secretary of the party, Barr. Ikenna Enekweizu, urged party members and the general public to disregard the lists, stressing that they did not originate from the party’s national headquarters.

According to Enekweizu, the NDC has already submitted the authentic list of candidates who will represent the party in the forthcoming elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the legally approved channels in compliance with the Electoral Act.

He attributed the circulation of the fake lists to mischief-makers and individuals seeking to undermine the party’s progress and create confusion among its members.

The party further disclosed that it has commenced investigations to uncover the source of the fabricated documents, describing the development as a deliberate attempt to sow discord and distract the party from its objectives.

Reaffirming its commitment to its members and supporters, the NDC assured stakeholders that it remains focused on building a strong political platform capable of driving national renewal and addressing Nigeria’s current challenges through collective effort and democratic engagement.
