The Kano State Police Command has confirmed that disciplinary measures were being taken against five police officers captured in a viral video allegedly aiding a politician in sharing cash to members of the public.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command said following investigation, it was found that the incident took place on July 10, 2025, at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House after a ceremony, and not during the August 16 re-run and by-elections in the State as being widely speculated.

According to the Command, investigations revealed that the officers were deployed for security duties at the event but were regrettably seen engaging in unprofessional conduct.

“The Command assures the public that appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken against the erring officers to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.

The Police Command further reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline, ethics, and public trust. (LEADEERSHIP)
