The governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State and former Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has challenged the Kano State Government to provide evidence supporting allegations that he received funds diverted from local government councils through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.

Gwarzo was reacting to claims reportedly made by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, alleging that local government funds were channelled to the former deputy governor through his son.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo dismissed the allegations as false, malicious and an attempt to damage his reputation.

He described the claims as “baseless, outrageous and completely unfounded,” insisting that they lacked any factual basis.

“The allegations are mere figments of the accuser’s imagination and have no foundation whatsoever. We categorically challenge those making these claims to provide credible, verifiable and concrete evidence to support them,” the statement said.

“Mere accusations, regardless of how frequently they are repeated in the media, do not constitute proof.”

Gwarzo maintained that throughout his years in public service, he had conducted himself with transparency, accountability and respect for the rule of law.

He expressed confidence that the truth would prevail and urged the public to disregard what he described as a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at undermining his integrity.

The former deputy governor reiterated his commitment to public service and called on his accusers to substantiate their allegations or refrain from spreading unverified claims.
