Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested four suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP collaborators, recovered drugs and logistics items intended for terrorists, and intercepted 20 suspected family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) during separate intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno states.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operations were part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks and disrupt insurgents’ logistics supply chains.
The statement disclosed that troops of the 159 Battalion under Sector 2 carried out a successful cordon-and-search operation in Geidam Town, Yobe State, on August 3, following credible intelligence. The operation led to the arrest of two suspected terrorist collaborators believed to have supplied hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram fighters.
Items recovered from the suspects included large quantities of suspected Indian hemp, several mobile phones of different brands, power banks, knives, scissors, torchlights, lighters, cigarette rolls, Pregabalin capsules, Piscof syrup, identity documents, ATM cards and cash totaling ₦14,530.
In another operation conducted later the same day, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, working alongside the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Monguno Town, Borno State, after sustained surveillance of terrorist supply routes.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to transporting food and other supplies to ISWAP fighters operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Recovered items included 11 cartons and 192 sachets of assorted biscuits, one carton of Peak milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of soap, six headlamps, two bags and 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two mobile phones, an assault knife, a charm belt, prayer beads, herbal medicine, cash amounting to ₦6,600 and other assorted items.
In a related development, troops of the 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS terrorists during a routine patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The group comprised nine women, two men, eight female minors and one male minor. Preliminary investigations revealed that they fled the Gezuwa enclave following sustained military offensives against terrorist positions in the area.
The intercepted individuals have been handed over to the 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for profiling and further necessary action.
Captain Goni said all arrested suspects and recovered exhibits had also been transferred to the appropriate military intelligence units for detailed investigation and exploitation.
He noted that the operations demonstrated the effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI’s intelligence-driven strategy in disrupting terrorist logistics, dismantling support networks and denying insurgents access to critical supplies.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists and appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and restore lasting peace across the North-East.
