British actor Michael Gambon, celebrated for Shakespearean roles and playing Dumbledore in the later Harry Potter films, dies aged 82. According to his family he died peacefully in the hospital.

Sir Michael, who has won four TV Baftas, is known for his extensive back catalogue of work across TV, film, radio and theatre over a career spanning five decades.

Sir Michael Gambon was born on the 19 October, 2942 in Cabra, Ireland. He died today, 28 September, 2023.

Sir Michael John Gambon CBE was an Irish–English actor. Gambon started his acting career with Laurence Olivier as one of the original members of the Royal National Theatre. Over his six-decade-long career, he received three Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four BAFTA Awards.
