Adamu presents gazetted white papers for 42 institutions

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has presented gazetted white papers of the presidential visitation exercise on some institutions following a rigorous evaluation process that took place between 2011 and 2020.

At the presentation of the papers in Abuja on Thursday, Adamu said the white papers contain the recommendations for each of the 42 institutions under review.

He said the visitation panels were constituted to undertake thorough assessments in 38 federal universities and four inter-university centers across the country.

He said the documents signified the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the highest standard of education and academic excellence in the institutions.

“It is with great excitement and satisfaction that we present to you today these gazetted white papers.

”They serve as a compass to guide us in achieving the objectives set forth by the Federal Government for these institutions.

”The release of these documents signifies the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of education and academic excellence in our universities,” he said.

The minister said that the production of the white papers had demanded significant resources and unwavering effort from the Federal Government.

According to him, “It is, therefore, incumbent upon each of you, as the esteemed chief executives of these institutions, to take responsibility for the diligent implementation of the recommendations outlined within these documents.

”The law that established federal universities grants the visitor, Mr President, the authority to appoint Visitation Panels every five years.

”These panels are entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive assessment of our universities and inter-university centers, in accordance with approved guidelines.

”This exercise plays a pivotal role in ensuring that these institutions of higher education are fulfilling their intended objectives.

”The Federal Government has entrusted you with this crucial task, and failure to execute it faithfully will not be taken lightly,” he added.

Adamu also explained that the well-being and success of students, faculty, and the Nigerian populace as a whole was depended on the effective execution of the recommendations in the white papers.

He commended those who contributed to the successful completion of the process, while thanking the visitation panels for their meticulous assessments as well as the dedicated team that compiled the gazetted white papers.

He, therefore, called on the visitation panels to work together to actualise the visions outlined in the gazetted white papers as this would forge a path towards a brighter future for the universities and the nation at large. (NAN)
