In order to avoid fire brigade approach, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Alkali Usman Baba has ordered about 15 states Police Commissioners (CPs) to send names of policemen to Force Headquarters (FHQ) Abuja, for documentation towards Anambra governorship election scheduled for November, 2021.
Investigations revealed that, signals were sent from FHQ last week Wednesday to all the affected police commands.
The signals directed the CPs to send the names of the policemen “to FHQ before end of this week, including their Force Numbers and Accounts details.”
While Delta and Imo states are to submit 1,000 names each, Lagos and other states are to submit 500 names each.
Dependable sources at Delta and lmo police commands confirmed the figure, while a reliable source in Lagos State command said, “the figure is around 500”.
Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, confirmed to The SUPREME on phone that such signals were actually dispatched to the CPs.
Though he failed to give the total figure, he explained that, “We are ready for Anambra State election. We are working closely with INEC to ensure there are no loopholes.”
On why the signals were sent to various commands so early when the election is still about one and half months away. Mba explained further that, “we don’t want fire brigade approach. We want to put everything in good shape, fully prepared in advance.”
Discrete investigations by The SUPREME reveal that, election allowances of the policemen shortlisted for the Anambra election would be prepared together with October salaries.
FHQ source disclosed: “If the allowances are not paid together with October salaries, they (policemen) will surely get their money before arriving Anambra.”
Our investigations also reveal that, apart from the conventional policemen from the state command, the CP Mobile, CP Counter Terrorists Unit (CTU) and CP EOD (Bomb Department) as well as CP Marine are also to send unspecified names of their various personnel to FHQ for documentation.
It was not immediately known how many helicopters that would be deployed in Anambra.
