The Gberegolor community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State came alive for the celebration of the life and transition to glory of Mr. Simeon Omaruaye in a funeral ceremony attended by the Delta Central Senatorial District Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Peters Omaruaye on January 27th, 2023.
The funeral was attended by Mr. Peters Omaruaye, his wife, the Omaruaye campaign organization, Olorogun Barrister Albert Akpomudje SAN, and other dignitaries. The deceased is an uncle of Peters Omaruaye, being his late father’s younger brother.
During the funeral, Mr. Peters Omaruaye and his campaign organization paid glowing tributes to the memories of late Mr. Simeon Omaruaye, who was described as a pillar of the community and a hero who devoted his life to God. Mr. Peters Omaruaye expressed his sadness over the loss of his uncle and said that he was a father figure to the entire Omaruaye family and the Gberegolor community as a whole. He said he will be sorely missed by all and prayed the Lord to grant his soul eternal rest.
The funeral service was held at the Gberegolor Anglican Church, where the officiating priest, Venerable Freeborn Onokpite, compared the life of the late Mr. Simeon Omaruaye to that of Job. He said that Mr. Simeon Omaruaye was a man who stood firm in serving the Lord despite the temptations he faced.
The Priest said that Mr. Simeon Omaruaye kept up the good works of his father who brought the Anglican Church to the Gberegolor community and asked God to give him everlasting life.
Mr. Simeon Omaruaye had struggled with Parkinson’s disease for almost four years before his death at the age of 70. He had worked as a teacher and retired as the Principal of Army Day Secondary School, Effurun, Delta State.
His life and legacy were celebrated during the funeral, with many people sharing stories and memories of him and his contributions to the community. The funeral was a fitting tribute to a man who was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.
