The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, as part of efforts to strengthen professional military education, improve administration and enhance personnel welfare.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, July 17, 2026, underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building institutional capacity through modern infrastructure aimed at supporting national security and operational effectiveness.
Named in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the newly commissioned facility is expected to improve the college’s training, administrative and welfare capabilities by providing a conducive environment for producing highly skilled logistics professionals to support military operations across the country.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Shaibu described the late Lagbaja as an exceptional military leader whose professionalism, integrity, selfless service and dedication to the nation continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
He said the decision to name the complex after the former Army Chief reflects the institution’s appreciation of his outstanding contributions to force development, leadership and operational excellence.
The COAS urged officers, instructors and students of NACOLM to uphold the ideals exemplified by the late General Lagbaja by remaining disciplined, professional and committed to excellence in the discharge of their duties.
Shaibu also reaffirmed that sustained investment in training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remains central to his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency operational environment.
The commissioning of the complex is part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing drive to modernise its institutions and strengthen the capacity of its personnel to address evolving security challenges across the country.
