Bayelsa-Born Timma, Victory Qualify For African Athletics Championship

Bayelsa -born Athletics prodigy, Tima Godbless has qualified for the African Senior Athletics Championships holding early June, 2022 in Mauritius.

At the invitational trial held at the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City, 18-year old Timma, won the 100 metres race to pick her ticket for the tracks and field tournament.

Timma, who had dominated the 100 metres race in Nigeria since her sterling performance at the last National Sports Festival and the National Youth Games will also run in the 4 by 100 metres women relay at the African show piece.

Timma’s team mate in Bayelsa, Victory Godeh, who placed 5th in the 100 metre dash also made the women’s 4 by 100m relay team to Mauritius.

Timma, an adopted athlete by Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State alongside Olympic wrestling silver medalist, Blessing Oborududu, said she was excited at winning the race and qualified to represent Nigeria.

Aleibiri- born sprinter promised to remain a worthy ambassador of Bayelsa State with an assurance to return to Nigeria with medals.

Timma Godbless who made the 4 by 100 metres relay team to the last Tokyo 2020 Olympics, is scheduled next for the Commonwealth Games national trials.
