ABUJA – The federal government, on Friday in Abuja, conferred 158 retired and serving officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the title of Ambassadors-in-Situ.
An Ambassador-in-Situ is a diplomatic official of the highest rank sent by one country as its long-term representative to another, in recognition of his/her selfless service to nation building.
The ambassadors were conferred and presented with letters of credence by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari.
