Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday swore in the newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas of the state.

The swearing in ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The event held shortly after the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli issued certificates of return to the chairmen-elect

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) had earlier declared the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Hon. Uzodinma Nwafor, the winner of the chairmanship election for Etche Local Government Area in the just-concluded local government polls in Rivers State.

The surprising twist means that the Action People’s Party (APP) secured 22 out of the 23 chairmanship positions across the state while the Action Alliance won one position. (THE NETWORK)
