Liz Truss, the British Prime Minister elected 45 days ago has resigned. She made the announcement at No. 10 Downing Street a moment ago.
She said she had informed His Majesty, The King on he decision. She resigned her appointment as leader of the Conservative Party and consequently as Prime Minister. She will go down on history as the shortest serving Prime Minister.
She said she came into office at a time of great economic and International instability and that she came with a mandate to change the situation. According to her, she cannot deliver on the mandate on which she was elected and has decided to resign.
She said she will remain as Prime Minister until a successor is elected.
