Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered the immediate arrest of some prominent citizens of the state if they refuse to appear before the Flying Revenue Committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim, tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

News Express reported that the order for arrest is coming on the heels of alleged mismanagement of revenue windows by the summoned persons, among them Chief Ngozi Nwokpagu and Mr Akai Egwuonwu.

News Exoress also stateted that Sources close to the corridors of power revealed to it that government is worried over tax diversion in some quarters in the last eight years and wishes to unravel some of the mysteries, hence the decision to go after “the untouchables” in the state.

According to one of the sources, the Deputy Governor has been directed to invite all those managing flying revenue windows in the state to appear before the committee tomorrow at the Deputy Governor’s Conference Hall, Government House Awka.

For Akai Egwuonwu, who is the MD of newly opened Zara Stores, Awka, and proponent of Anambra Rice, Soludo wants to know why ‘Anambra Rice’ has been personalised and discover if he pays any taxes and revenues to the state for such branding and business.

On the part of Chief Ngozika Nwokpagu, he is being summoned to explain why he is operating a park at Onitsha South, Fegge.

Expectations are that he will show evidence of payment of revenue to the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service for his businesses in the last eight years.

Many other individuals are also said to have received invitation to attend the interview on flying revenue windows in the state.
