…police arrest two suspected shooters, recover guns.
Three Nigerian Police officers have been shot dead in Igarra, in Edo State. The officers were shot dead by daredevil gunmen along Igarra-Auchi road in Edo State in the early hours of Thursday, 6 April 2023.
The Standard Gazette gathered that the officers, attached to Iggara Division in Akoko-Edo local government area, were on a routine patrol when the shooters ambushed them.
The Deputy sector commander of Akoko-Edo Vigilance Group, Mr. Dogo Theophilus Ibukun, told the Standard Gazette, “I got a call from the Divisional crime officer in the lgarra Police Division that some policemen were attacked along the Igarra-Auchi road.
“I immediately alerted my men, and we moved to scene where we saw the bodies of the three slain policemen”.
The Standard Gazette learned that two gunmen had been arrested and Five AK 47 rifles had been recovered.
The police said one of the suspects sustained a severe injury and was transferred to the state police headquarters in Benin City.
The state Police command is yet to issue any statement on the incident.
