Mrs Ropo Adeyemo, the German-born wife of Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, has been released by the Court D’Appeal in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and given back her passport. Her husband was, however, not released by the court during its maiden sitting on the Igbo case in Port Novo yesterday evening, Thursday, July 22, 2021. The court rather authorized the Beninoise Police to retain Igboho in their custody and adjourned the case till Friday, July 23, 2021.

Igboho’s lead lawyer, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN), who spoke with a News Express Special Correspondent, said: “The Nigerian Government did not file anything on extradition; they just filed to give information to court that he is wanted in Nigeria for gun running and some other offences.

“They only filed information for the court to keep him in custody while they file charges against him.

“They just want the court to help them ensure he doesn’t leave Cotonou and help them keep him in custody and no court would do that.”

Igboho and his wifewere arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, as they attempted to board a flight to Germany on Monday.
