Cricket Club Abuja Teams Record Victory At Commencement of 2022 Monsoon Cup

The Monsoon Cup 2022 organized by the Millennium Sports Club Association (MSCA) Abuja in Collaboration with the Cricket Club Abuja (CCA) commenced at the CCA Oval on Sunday, 19th of June, at Package “B” of the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.

The tournament is a four-team competition played in a league format of 9 matches spread over Four-Sunday weekends. It features two teams each from the CCA and MSCA respectively.  They are, from the CCA; CCA TIGERS and CCA PANTHERS: From the MSCA; MSCA KINGS and MSCA EAGLES.

CCA PANTHERS

On Day 1 of the tournament, Sunday 19th of June, the first match was between the CCA Tigers and the MSCA Kings. The match started at 8:30 am with the CCA Tigers coming in to bat. At the end of 15 overs, CCA Tigers scored 135 runs for the loss of 4 Wickets. Top Batters for the CCA Tigers were Shantanu Raychaudhuri who scored 61 runs off 39 balls, Aditya 46 runs off 35 balls.

CCA TIGERS

At the end of the first inning, the Millennium Kings came in to chase 135 runs and needed 136 runs to win. The chase ended at 99 runs in 14.5 overs for the loss of 10 wickets. CCA Tigers won the match.

MSCA TEAN 1

In the second match between the CCA Panthers and the MSCA Eagles, the Eagles came in to bat first with a total score of 103 Runs in 15 Overs for the loss of 8 Wickets. Mahesh Nimje was highest Batter for his side with 29 runs off 24 Balls.

MSCA EAGLES

In the second inning, the CCA Panthers scored 104 Runs in 13.4 Overs for the loss of 5 Wickets. Top scorers on the side were Duro with 53 runs off 28 balls and Reji George who scored 20 runs off 19 balls. Duro was also fantastic behind the wickets where he stumped out 4 batters in the match. Duro was man of the match. The CCA Panthers won the second match of the day by 5 wickets.

On the sidelines of the tournament from right, Oludare Aimola – North Central Representative on the board of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, middle – Michael Egiethua, publisher of Crossfire Reports and General Secretary of the Cricket Club Abuja and Tade Aimola, a football development entrepreneur.

The next set of matches of the Millennium Monsoon Cup 2022 will resume on Sunday, 26th of June 2022 at the CCA Cricket Oval, Package “B”, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Scheduled matches for the day are as follows: Game 1 – CCA PANTHERS Versus MSCA KINGS at 8 am and Game 2 – CCA TIGERS Versus MSCA Eagles at 10.30 am.

CCA PANTHERS

The Monsoon Cup 2022 is spread over 4 weeks of action and other match days are, CCA PANTHERS Versus CCA TIGERS on 3rd of July, 2022 at 8 am and MSCA Eagles Versus MSCA KINGS at 10.45 am on the same day.

The final match in the league-styled tournament will hold on the 10th of July, 2022 between the two top teams.
