A former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to resist political manipulation.

Atiku said this while reacting to the acquittal of the founder of Daar Communications Plc and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, by the Federal Court of Appeal.

Dokpesi was standing trial in connection with alleged N2.1bn money laundering charges brought against him by the EFCC regarding the arms contracts under a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Reacting to Dokpesi’s acquittal in a statement, Atiku said he was elated with the outcome of the trial.

Atiku said it revealed the truth about the lopsided nature of the anti-corruption policy of the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd)

Atiku said, “The entire anti-corruption trials appear to be focused on opposition politicians, thereby casting doubt on the credibility of the anti-graft agency.”
