The Director, School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Afikpo, Mr Abdulrahman Alufha, has canvassed for a balance between educational pursuit and moral standards among school students.

Alufha, who is also the National Amir, Old Students Association of the School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Afikpo (OSSAISA), said this at the 2023 E’idul-Fitr Celebration of the association in Abuja on Monday.

He said that parents mostly focused on children’s education without considering their morals, saying this usually led to most social vices encountered by the youths.

”Once in a year we bring our families together to know ourselves because we all are graduates of the centre.

”The school provides curricular education and Islamic education,we teach morals and education.

”We always focus on the education of our children while we neglect their morals, so as a school, we provide both to shape the society,” he said.

He added that children with both education and morals would not be risk to the society.

Also, an Ex-Officio of the Abuja Chapter of the association, Mr Tesleem Akosile, called on Muslim faithfuls to always imbibe the gains of Ramadan, saying that doing this would make the world free from social vices and immoral activities.

” We have learnt a lot during the Ramadan and these gains are numerous, we learnt the act of patience in our day-to-day activities with our neighbours and families.

” We must therefore exercise patience because lack of demonstration of patience will lead to wastage of time and resources.

” This means we need patience in our livelihood because lack of patience has made our youths to engage in negative activities like the Yahoo Yahoo, Yahoo plus and the rest.

”So we must continue to pass these gains on to our children and the next generation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mrs Rahmat Usman, a member of the association, charged Muslims to carry on with the good characters of self discipline , good neighborliness, kindness, patience, perseverance and tolerance saying Ramadan was a life shaper for every Muslims.
