Benin City 16 September, 2022.

Delegates from Esan Youths Organization (EYO) today paid a working visit to the Ministry of Science and Technology Benin City in preparation for the hosting of the 3rd Edition of Edo Central Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition 2022.

The EYO Delegates was led by Comrade Kingsley Ohens, it’s national president who was accompanied by members of the EYO Education Development Committee.

The thrust of the working visit was to cross-fertilize areas of collaboration and partnership in the hosting of the fast approaching third edition.

In a paper presented by Comrade Ohens to the Ministry as made available to Urban Scoop Media in Benin, the President appreciated the strategic Ministry for always showing deep interest and rendering support and direction towards the Esan-wide quiz program right from the maiden edition in 2019.

EYO President appealed to the Ministry to continue in the usual spirit of partnership with EYO in the promotion of science Education among the youths considering the role of science and technology in national productivity.

In his remark, the Hon. Commissioner for Science and Technology Edo State, Dr. Bathlomen Brai, welcomed the EYO team to the Ministry.

He, assured EYO of the Ministry’s continuous collaboration with EYO to see that science and technology/ICT is rooted in schools.

He commended governor Obaseki for his Love for science and technology and said that the state government has plans to increase the state owned technical schools to 20 across the 18 local government area of Edo State.

The Hon Commissioner called on other senatorial districts to emulate EYO on this educational program.

He added that the state governor has approved Science and Technology Desk/Committee in the 18 local government areas of the state.

He advised EYO to also take this laudable educational initiative to primary school level.

He further adviced EYO to consider hosting a science and technology innovation week or expo and that the ministry will always give their Support.

The Director, Science and Technology Promotion, Mr. Jonathan Ukpebor, thanked EYO for making the event an annual event.

He promised that the ministry as approved by the Commissioner will give all technical and man-power support to EYO to ensure this year event is successful.

He added that the ministry will vet all quiz questions and be on ground to give the event the necessary credibility and quality assurance.
