IGP Summons Edo Policemen to Force Headquarters over gross misconduct

The Inspector Genersl of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has summoned some Edo Policemen to Force Headquarters over gross misconduct in a trending video.

Crossfire Reports had reported that a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was seen in a viral video being driven over with a Toyota Sienna by some policemen, while lying on the road handcuffed.

This action by the police  in Ekpoma has been highly criticised by Nigerians as a most inhuman act never before seen in Nigeria.

In response to the outcry by Nigerians, the IGP has invited the culprits to the Nigeria Police Force Headwuaryers in Abuja.

A press  statement signed by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, said the Ag. IGP, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has condemned the disturbing incident where a police team ran a vehicle over a citizen on Thursday,  June 29, 2023 in Ekpoma, Edo State.

“GROSS MISCONDUCT BY EDO POLICEMEN

“The Ag. Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has condemned the disturbing incident where a police team ran a vehicle over a citizen on Thursday June 29, 2023 at Ekpoma, Edo State.

“The IGP has, therefore, directed the erring policemen, who have been in detention in Edo State, to report to the Force Headquarters Abuja on Monday for further action. Members of the public, particularly the people of Ekpoma, are implored to remain calm as the present leadership of the NPF will not condone such an act of unprofessionalism and illegality.
