Members of the Olu Advisory Council, led by the Iyasere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Johnson Atserunleghe, today paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Delta State Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa at Government House, Asaba.

The council members first consoled the Governor on the demise of his father. Secondly, they formally informed the Delta State Government of the proclamation on 5th April, 2021 to the public, of the passage of Ogiame Ikenwoli Godfrey Emiko, the 20th Olu Of Warri, and the introduction of the new Olu designate, Prince Itieyinoritsetsola Emiko.

They also mentioned that the funeral rights concerning the former Olu were ongoing along with preparations for the crowning of the new Olu.

The Governor thanked the council for the condolences offered him regarding his late father. Equally, he consoled the Itsekiri nation on the passage of the former Olu, who he described as a peacebuilder during his relatively short period on the throne.

Governor Okowa also noted the proposed crowning of the new Olu designate. He ended his response by wishing them well and prayed for continued peace in the Itsekiri nation.
