The minister of state, Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Dr Ramatu Tijani-Aliyu stressed the need for “functional” partnership for the development of rural infrastructure.

The minister said this during the commissioning of a road project at Abuja based Private Institution, Philomath University.

Tijani-Aliyi said that the administration of the FCT had revitalized rural roads in the capital city in three years.

According to her, we must collectively understand the need to establish functional partnerships for meaningful development especially in the provisions of rural infrastructures with a view to establishing smart objectives in community service.

“I have come to the realisation that provisions of rural road is not a cheap project , but requires huge resources in a cost effective module.

“I am glad to inform you that the FCT Administration within three years, has progressed towards revitalising our rural roads in satellites towns across the six Area Councils.

“To this end, we invited members of the National Assembly to carry out oversight functions of some of our rural projects with a view to completing them before the end of this Administration,” she said.

While commending the university for the road project which was named after her late mother, Hajia Zainab Ali, the minister said, “Mr. Chairman, I sincerely thank you and your team for this laudable project, which I believe will improve the built environment.

“It is therefore my honour and privilege to, on behalf of my family, commission this project to the glory of God and service of humanity,” she added.

Meanwhile, the chairman, governing council of the university, Collins Aimuan lauded the minister for her “laudable feats” in the FCT.

He also charged her to continue to make an impact in the education sector.
