Peters Omaruaye, the senatorial candidate, who is running for the Delta central seat in the 2023 general elections believes that prayer is a crucial aspect of political life and that churches should play a role in supporting Christian leaders in their campaigns. To this end, he has dedicated his political ambition to God before the commencement of his political activities, believing that prayer is the key to success.
He visited two churches on January 22nd, 2023, the Diocese of Warri (Anglican Communion) Church of the Transfiguration and God’s Dominion Arena Church, to seek prayers and support from the congregations.
During the visit, the candidate was accompanied by two other candidates, who were also seeking election to the House of Assembly and to a federal constituency. At the Anglican church, the officiating minister, Revd. Ophikale Ogheneovo, spoke on the topic, “KINGDOM INVESTMENT” (Matthew 6: 31-34) and emphasized the importance of prayers, fasting and giving as major tools for achieving generational blessings. He prayed for the three candidates and encouraged the congregants to be actively involved in the coming election and to support the best candidate who has the potential to deliver good governance and fulfill electoral promises.
At God’s Dominion Arena Church, the pastor, Austine Jemifor, spoke about the importance of doing something in order to receive blessings from God. He urged the congregants to be active in the coming elections and to support the best candidates who have the potentials to deliver good governance. He also spoke about the political ambition of the senatorial candidate and praised him as the Director General of “Omars Royal Industry”, saying it is one of the best industries he has come across in the country and urged the congregants to support him.
The senatorial candidate, in his response, expressed confidence that by partnering with the churches, especially with their spiritual support and prayers, his vision of making the Delta Central region an attractive destination for investment would be realized.
He highlighted his background as Director General of Omars Royal Industry and highlighted the company’s transparency and efficiency, and promised to translate the same into governance if elected. He also promised to never disappoint the church if he is elected and thanked the congregation for their support and prayers.
