Former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, has described Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as one of Nigeria’s most treasured national assets, whose contributions to governance, democracy and national unity remain indelible.

Eulogising the former Bayelsa State Governor on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Iworiso-Markson said Dickson’s patriotism, discipline, intellectual depth and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and democratic sustenance clearly set him apart as a statesman of uncommon quality.

According to him, Dickson’s public service journey reflects a rare blend of courage, vision and consistency, noting that his years as governor were marked by purposeful leadership, institutional reforms and infrastructural consolidation, particularly in education, security, healthcare and human capital development.

Iworiso-Markson, who worked closely with Dickson for eight years; first as Chief Press Secretary and later as Commissioner for Information and Orientation between 2012 and 2020, said his personal experience revealed a leader deeply rooted in his people’s aspirations and passionately committed to the progress of the Ijaw nation, the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

He noted that beyond his accomplishments as governor, Dickson has remained outstanding in the National Assembly, where he has emerged as a strong, principled and fearless voice for the Niger Delta and Nigeria’s democratic ideals.

According to Iworiso-Markson, Dickson’s interventions in the Senate have consistently reflected intellectual rigour, constitutionalism and national interest, earning him respect across party lines as a lawmaker who speaks truth to power and defends due process.

While wishing Senator Dickson a happy 60th birthday, Iworiso-Markson thanked God for the gift of his life and prayed for continued divine guidance, protection and strength in the years ahead.

He observed that the milestone birthday, which ordinarily would have called for elaborate celebrations, is being marked with restraint following the recent and suddent loss of Dickson’s longstanding ally and Bayelsa deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

The former Commissioner described the moment as one that calls for reflection, gratitude to God Almighty and renewed commitment to service.

Encouraging him even in this solemn moment, Iworiso-Markson urged Senator Dickson to remain steadfast, resilient and focused, stressing that his legacy of service, integrity and courage continues to inspire a generation of leaders within and beyond the Niger Delta.
