Ozigbo, Soludo, Uba To Face-Off On November 6 As INEC Releases Final Candidate List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with previously issued timetable and schedule of activities, on Thursday, 7th October 2021, published the final list of candidates for the election.

According to the final list signed by Festus Okoye, National Commissioner in charge of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, and posted at the State office of the Commission in Awka as well as on the commission’s website and official social media platforms, there are a total of 18 candidates on the ballot.

Among the top contenders are PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo, APGA’s Charles Chukwuma Soludo and APC’s Andy Uba.

Others are; Labour Party’s Obiora Agnasimelo, YPP’s Ifeanyi Ubah, ZLP’s Obiora Okonkwo, Accord Party’s Godwin Maduka, AA’s Bennet Etiaba, AAC’s Chidozie Nwankwo, ADC’s Akachukwu Nwankpo, ADP’s Afam Ume-ezeoke, APM’s Geoffrey Onyejegbu, APP’s Philip Echetebu, BOOT Party’s Okeke Chika Jerry, NNPP’s Ohajinkpo Leonard, NRM’s Afam Ezenwafor, PRP’s Nnamdi Nwawuo and SDP’s Obinna Uzoh.

Reacting to the publication by INEC, Ozigbo said “Not only is this election winnable, PDP retains the brightest of chances and I say this from a place of well-informed analysis on the basis of our work on the field. Despite the handful of defections, we retain the comparative advantage of the grassroots.

“Our team is more resolute because we know the hope of ndị Anambra lies on us. We are going to spare nothing to ensure we get it right at the grassroots and win this election. There will be a better story to tell at the end,” Ozigbo concluded.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, said the list has been presented to the parties participating in the election.

He said: “In line with the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election released on 19th January 2021, the Commission, has today, 7th October 2021 implemented two additional activities.

“The Final Register of Voters for the Anambra Governorship election was presented to the 18 registered political parties participating in the election at the headquarters of the commission in Awka.

“Furthermore, the Commission released the final list of Candidates for the election and has pasted same in the State office of the commission in Awka, Anambra State. The List has also been uploaded to the Commission’s website and social media platforms.”
