Dream Academy School, Yenagoa on Thursday at the Samson Siasia Stadium in the round of 16 Fixtures of the ongoing Bayelsa Governors Cup tagged “Prosperity Cup”, ended Nigeria Union of Journalist Bayelsa state council dream of winning the 2023 Prosperity Cup after recording a 3-1 victory against the pen pushers.

Dream Academy School started the game on the front foot and went ahead in the 28 minutes courtesy of a strike from Pere Ebiware.

 

With no more goals in the first half, dream Academy went into the break with a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Three minute’s into the resumption of the second half, Peremone Bright goal in the 48 minutes gave Dream Academy a two goal lead.

Having been two goals down, NUJ defended better in the remaining minutes of the game as they pushed to get a goal back and mount an unlikely come back but any hope of a come back was dashed in the 70 minute’s as Murphy Alkali strike condemned the pen pushers to a round of 16 defeat at this year’s competition to end their amazing run in this year’s tournament.

Humphrey got a goal back for NUJ in the 78 minutes but it was little too late as Dreams Academy School Yenagoa went through to the Quarter final winning 3-1 at full time to keep their title dream alive at the ongoing Prosperity Cup.

The much talked about round of 16 encounter was attended by Director General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr Ono Akpe, Deputy D.G Deacon Emmanuel Appah, Bayelsa NUJ Chairman, Mr Samuel Numonengi, Chairman Bayelsa United, Ebiki Timitimi, Hon. Robert Enogha and sport enthusiasts.
