Redeemer’s Private School has canvassed for proper disbursement of student scholarships rather than the student loan scheme that was recently introduced by the Federal Government.

The Head of School, Redeemer’s Private School, Mrs Ifunanya Asagwara said this at the 25th anniversary and 19th graduation ceremony of the school in Abuja on Thursday.

President Bola Tinubu had in June signed into law a bill that provides interest-free education loans for Nigerians willing to acquire tertiary education.

According to Asagwara, the situation of the country’s economy has affected everyone adding this has added to the increment of school fees.

“We all know the situation of this country, completion of education doesn’t give assurance of employment and now we are saying students should come and take loan to study, how will they pay?.

“Therefore, the student loan scheme is like making students indebted, we are talking about student loan scheme but don’t forget that the numbers of out-of-school children is really disheartening.

“I will urge the government to come together and work with stakeholders towards the improvement and strengthening of education to avoid the increasing number of out-of-school children.’’

Speaking on the school graduation, Asagwara commended the students for their outstanding performance in areas like school debates, science and I.Q Maths competitions and award of excellence in Chess tournament.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Continental Overseer, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mrs Esther Odeyemi advised the graduands to always listen to their teachers and parents as a way to their growth in life.

The school graduated 17 pupils and students both of the upper and lower primary of the school.

The event feature speech presentations, drama performance and ballet dance presented by the students of the school.
