Solomon Arase, was a Rare Gem,  Nigeria Needs more of his Caliber – Amb. Igali, PANDEF Chairman

The National Chairman of Pan Niger Delta Forum, (PANDEF), Amb Godknows Igali OON led a delegation of PANDEF members nationwide to attend the Funeral Vigil Mass and Requiem Mass of late IGP Solomon Arase Rtd at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church  Airport Road  Benin City on September 2 and 3, 2025 respectively. IGP Arase was the Edo state chapter Chairman of PANDEF until his untimely death.

A press statement signed by Chief  Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF National Publicity Secretary on September 3, 2025 said that Amb Igali, who broke down in tears said, given the good qualities of IGP Solomon Arase,  a man of humility who, in spite of his position in society, made himself available at all times for service to humanity.

Ambassador Igali said Arase was well loved because he devoted his life to helping humanity. He said men like him were too in short supply in the world today. He noted that the late Retired IGP Arase,  dedicated his time annually to assist orphanage homes in his charitable endeavors.

According to Igalli, the services of Late Arase to humanity cannot be easily quantified and overstated.

Late Arase was the Chapter Chairman of  PANDEF in Edo state even after serving Nigeria as IGP. This has shown his love for his region, the Niger Delta, and particularly for his people of Edo state. No wonder he was the founding president of the Benin Consultative Forum, according to Amb. Godknows Igali.

The funeral events were well attended by PANDEF National Executives from all states of the Niger Delta, including state chairmen and Edo state chapter executive officers who were in full attendance.

“We shall continue to miss late Solomon Arase as a big vacuum has been created due to his death,” Igali added.

The mere number of high-ranking dignitaries who attended the event has gone to show that Arase related well with the society, his colleagues, and also the down trodden, Amb. Godknows Igali concluded.

Signed.
