The stage is now set for the grand medal presentation and reception for athletes and administrstors of the Cricket family as the 20th National Sports Festival, Edo 2020 heads for the home stretch after 10 days of sporting battles.
The planned elaborate ceremony, billed for Adolor College, Ugbowo, is to hold on Tuesday 13th April with the Nigerian Sports Minister, Sunday Dare as the chief guest of honour while the immediate past Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Frank Okiye is expected to lead other prominent Edo sons and daughters to the event billed for 4pm.
The chief host, Uyi Akpata, the Vice President of the Nigerian Cricket Federation and Chairman of Edo State Cricket Association while revealing the plans for the day, disclosed that the Association was already working out the modalities with the host state through the Chairman Edo State Sports Commission, Barrister Godwin Dudu Orumen to ensure total compliance to the covid-19 procedures as spelt by the NCDC and the PTF.
The cricket event of the National Sports Festival took place at the Edo Boys High school Adolor with the boys and girls category enjoying a record number of participation, higher than the last edition in Abuja in 2018.
