…as Atunluse of Obbo-Aiyegunle appreciates attendees
Yesterday, the bigwigs, rank and files of Kwara People’s Democratic Party, dignitaries, family and well-wishers were all out to celebrate the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP, in Kwara State, Hon. Gbenga Peter Makanjuola, on his investiture as the Atunluse of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State.
The installation which was in commemoration of the 4th Obbo-Aiyegunle Day celebrations, was to appreciate the good work and impactful contributions of Hon. Makanjuola to the human capital and infrastructural development of the community.
The Omu-Aran country home of Hon. Makanjuola was alive like never before as it received top dignitaries including; party stalwarts; party faithful; stakeholders; family friends well-wishers from across Kwara and beyond for the reception program.
Speaking at the event, the Kwara State gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi while lampooning the APC-led government of the state over maladministration and mismanagement of taxpayers’ money also noted that, “his presence in Omu-Aran was homecoming. And that attending his running mate’s celebration on chieftaincy title was a great honour for him. “Makanjuola deserves the title, owing to his unforgettable contributions to the development of OBBO-AIYEGUNLE and the entire Kwara South,” Yaman said.
“The saying that posterity will speaks volume of every creature was affirmed at the event as Kwara South senatorial candidate of the PDP, Sen. Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, said: “I thank God for the life of my brother, Hon. Sir Peter Gbenga Makanjuola, as we are super proud to identify with him on his achievements. The Atunluse title is being given to him based on his antecedents/track record and we as PDP family celebrate him, while we pray God almighty will continue to guide him, especially in public office.”
“Hon. Makanjuola was a responsible and responsive representative while he represented the people of Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency. His support and developmental strides for the people of Obbo-Aiyegunle, in and out of office, were enough to earn him a befitting chieftaincy title as ‘Atunluse’ (one who brings development and prosperity to the community). The title was never out of place and it’s a call for him to do more starting from 2023 when he shall become the Deputy Governor of the state by the grace of God.” These were the words of Comrade Bisi Fakayode, the Kwara South PDP Chairman, during the reception program.
Atunluse of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Hon. Gbenga Peter Makanjuola, the chief host, said: “ I’m aware of the responsibility that comes with the title and I know that so much is expected of me. The honour is a challenge, considering the accolades and commendations that comes with it which symbolises applause over the past record and a call to do more. I consider myself privileged because I barely noticed what the people we represented and about to represent their interests sees in me. I can only assure the people that my ability, culture and values of selfless service shall be continually protected and preserved,” Makanjuola affirmed.
The new Atunluse of Obbo-Aiyegunle, however, thank with most sincerity Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP; Sen.
