In the course of the movement to extract our beloved State from the doldrums of infamy, and the destructive policies which some have persisted in, it is important from time to time as the campaign unfolds, to recap and mark milestones on this journey. The last 2 weeks on this course would constitute such a mile marker.

‘The peoples General’, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, under whose leadership our incoming Senator, Peters Omaruaye, has labored for the rescue of the State over the last 20 years, launched his campaign for the governorship seat of Delta State in Asaba on the 14th of December, 2022. Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru and his deputy, Ogbueshi Chinedu Alannah, chose Prince Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh to lead the 46-man campaign council.

In the same week, in Ughelli town, Olorogun Miller Uloho marked his 90th birthday on Sunday, the 17th of December, in a well attended and regal ceremony. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Great Ogboru, and the Delta Central Senatorial District Candidate, Mr. Peters Omaruaye, his lovely wife, and other personalities celebrated Olorogun Miller Uloho’s 90th birthday with him in Ughelli. The celebration was well attended by members of the political class from across the state, business men and women, captains of industry, leaders from different communities in the State, friends and well wishers from far and near.

It was another opportunity for the Ogboru progressive team to show its appreciation and deep roots in the community. Chief Miller Uloho has been, and remains a seminal figure in Urhobo life, and indeed a ‘transitional figure’ that represents the unity and integrity of Urhobos, bridging the generation that came of age post the civil war to that which held sway prior. It is indeed iconic that the People’s General would inaugurate his most important election in the 90th year of Chief Miller Uloho.

The event was held at the Miller Uloho Avenue, Off NNPC Roundabout, Isoko Road, Ughelli.
Olorogun Miller Uloho, or “uncle Miller” as he’s widely known was visibly elated. The celebrant thanked God for sustaining his life for these last 90 years.

Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Ogboru and Omaruaye respectively described Olorogun Miller as a blessing to the good people of Ughelli and Delta state in general. They prayed for Gods continuous protection of his life, as they congratulated the celebrant on his 90th birthday.

Indeed as the year runs to a close, and as the election draws nearer, there will be more of these milestones to be noted on the journey as we finally elect the Ogboru progressive team into leadership in Delta State.
