Three Ojukwu Varsity Female Students Found Dead in Hostel

Three 200 level students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam campus, were found dead in the hostel on Saturday.

A university source gave the names of the students as one Emnanuella of the Department of Business Administration, Obidiaso Chidera of Political Science Dept and Mercy of Pharmacy Dept.

It was stated that the cause of the death of the students has not been ascertained.

The source said that it was suspected that they might have been locked in their room from outside.

It was stated that while two of the students were found lifeless on their beds, the third one was found dead in the kitchen.

,“The students were locked up in the apartment. When we got access to the apartment, we found them lifeless with two of them on their beds in the room, while the third lifeless body was found in the kitchen.” A source said

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Harrison Madubueze, who confirmed the sad occurrence described it as shocking.

He said that the security operatives have commenced investigation into the death of the students.

“The university management received with rude shock the news of the death of three of our students. At the moment, the date, time and manner of their death are still uncertain.

“However, the security operatives are investigating the matter and at the appropriate time, they will make the findings public.”

The school’s spokesman said that the institution was not aware that the students were still in the hostel as the institution was closed after the second semester examination on August 24, 2022.

“This is because the institution closed on Wednesday 24th August 2022 after the second semester examination and will resume on October 1st, 2022,” he said.
