A 2-term former House of Representatives member and PDP Governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Rt. Hon. Chuma Nzeribe has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement on his official Twitter handle where he needlessly reminded citizens of the harrowing and horrible events of the Civil War that took place 1967-1970.
Speaking to newsmen on the issue over the weekend, Honorable Chuma Nzeribe said, “it’s wrong for Mr. President to use that particular ugly incident that cast a cloak of darkness in the history of Nigeria to attempt to address issues of insecurity beleaguering his administration referencing the South-East and the wanton destruction of infrastructure”.
The Governorship aspirant further said that even though the president while addressing the issues tried to explain that the people agitating for separation may have been going about it the wrong way, it was unpresidential for him to have further tried to use the events of the Civil War to buttress his point.
“The president ought to know that language is key when communicating to a people he governs”, he said.
The former lawmaker also used the opportunity to appeal for calm in the South-East and advised various Governors to sit up and nip the insecurity issues affecting their various states in the bud as the first obligation of any government.
