As part of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof D.E Obaseki, today 14th March, 2023 paid a courtesy visit to former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
General Gowon’s wife, Mrs Victoria Gowon had commissioned the hospital on May 12th, 1973, and the CMD was at their residence to formally invite them to the golden jubilee celebrations.
During the visit, General Gowon expressed his delight at the growth and development of the hospital over the years and commended the efforts of the management and staff. He also reminisced about the commissioning ceremony and shared some fond memories.
The CMD expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit and thanked General Gowon for his role in the establishment of the hospital. He noted that UBTH is poised to continue providing quality healthcare services to Nigerians.
The visit was a testament to the strong ties between UBTH and its stakeholders, and a reminder of the hospital’s commitment to delivering excellent healthcare services to the people of Nigeria.
