AWKA, NIGERIA – Valentine Ozigbo, the Special Adviser to the Labour Party presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, on Technology and Strategic Alliances, joined other dignitaries in Ogidi on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of Mrs Ezinne Odozi-Akụ Magaret Udeafor Anyanwutaku, who died at the age of 93.
The burial ceremony began with a mass at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Oye, Ogidi, which was officiated by His Lordship, Rt Reverend Owen Nwokolo, Anglican Bishop on the Niger. In his homily, Bishop Nwokolo praised the late Mrs Anyanwukatu for her upright living, urging the congregants to emulate her godly life.
Valentine Ozigbo paid his respects to the Anyanwukatu family, especially to his friend and son of the deceased, High Chief Sir Samuel Anyanwukatu (Obataobie).
“Ezinne Magaret Anyanwukatu lived a life that was worthy of commendation. She will be missed for what she represented during her time on Earth, making a solid mark and leaving an impact,” Ozigbo remarked to journalists after the funeral service.
“It is incumbent on those of us who are still here to ensure that the values she represented stay alive by emulating her good deeds—that way, we can carry on her legacy,” the 2021 Anambra governorship candidate added.
Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party and two-time Governor of Anambra State, also attended the event. Other dignitaries and captains of industry present include His Royal Majesty Pharm Alex Onyido, the Igwe of Ogidi Kingdom, who his wife, Osodieme Ugogbe, accompanied, Chief Okey Ezeibe, Senator Ubanese Alphonsus Igbeke, High Chief Sir Sam (Onwa Ogidi), Chief Patrick Chibueze (Bozak), Chief Basil Akukwe (Akunwata), Chief Tony Obinugwu, Chief Obiora Okonkwo, Dr. Dakuku Peterside (formed DG of NIMASA), Chief Bishop Okonkwo, Chief Joseph Ukeji (Ejison) and Chief James Uduji, the Chairman of Cometstar Cable Manufacturing Limited.
The event was a testament to the high regard in which the late Mrs Anyanwukatu was held, with people from all walks of life coming together to pay their respects. As Valentine Ozigbo noted, her life was a shining example of what it means to live well and leave a lasting legacy.
