MRTB TO HOST STAKEHOLDERS TO DIALOGUE ON IMPLEMENTATION OF REHABILITATION 2030

The Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria (MRTB) is set to host stakeholders of Medical Rehabilitation and other relevant stakeholders to a meeting with the view to develop an action plan for the integration of rehabilitation into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) from the perspective of practice, training and regulation.

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Prof. Rufai Yusuf Ahmad, made this known in Abuja at a meeting with staff and some rehabilitation professionals.

Prof. Ahmad said the aim of the meeting, among others, is expected to bring significant changes to Rehabilitation professionals’ practice, training, research and regulation through multidisciplinary planning and stakeholders’ engagement.

Furthermore, he said the meeting will discuss the implementation of the Rehabilitation Competency Framework, Package of interventions in Rehabilitation (PIC), and Rehabilitation in Health System that was launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in August 2023.

He said that the event, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, November 29th and Thursday, November 30th, 2023 in Abuja, would bring together the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, WHO, UNICEF, National Commission for People Living With Disability, Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Health,Health professionals and a host of others with a view to set in motion mechanisms for implementation of resolutions of the Rehabilitation 2030 agenda.
