The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the lists and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The electoral body announced that the submission deadline, which was initially scheduled to expire on Saturday, July 11, 2026, has now been moved to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
According to INEC, the extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to complete the upload of their candidates’ details within the original timeframe.
The Commission said the decision reflects its commitment to promoting inclusivity in the electoral process while remaining within the provisions of the law.
INEC urged all political parties to make effective use of the additional time to upload the names and personal particulars of their candidates before the new deadline expires, stressing that no further delays should be expected.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
