ACUSN SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS NORTH CENTRAL UMPIRES AND SCORERS SEMINAR 2021

A press release by the National Chairman of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers of Nigeria (ACUSN) has said that ACUSN has successfully concluded training of Cricket Umpires and Scorers in the North Central Zone. The event which took place on Saturday, 21st of Augudt was hosted in Abuja.

The Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers of Nigeria (ACUSN), successfully conducted intermediate training for Umpires in the North-Central Zone.

The seminar which took place on the 21st of August 2021 at the Goodluck Jonathan High performance Center, Package B’ Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, had a total of 26 Participants from 5 States in the Zone. Kogi, Kwara, Niger and Plateau all sent in representatives to join their colleagues in Abuja.

The seminar was divided into 2 sessions, Theory and Practical. The first session centered on Pre-match duties, Laws of the game and latest changes to the playing condition. Video analyses were used for the training as well as match scenarios and decisions taken by umpires, using the laws of the game for explanations.

The practical session covered areas like Umpires stance, movement into positions, signals and communications, consultations, match management and more.

Reacting to the training, the participants were delighted to be part of the workshop, dwelling on the knowledge gained and the timing, as most states around the zone are looking forward to starting their domestic leagues.

Guest appearances during the seminar were the General Manager of the Federation, Mr. Emeka Igwilo and the Secretary General Mr. Taiwo Oriss. In his remarks, the Secretary General thanked all the participants for making the journey across the zone to be part of the training, citing that the seminar is a plus to the overall growth and development of Cricket in the country especially with the important role of umpires and officials in the game. He concluded that the Federation will continue to work closely with ACUSN and provide support in areas where necessary. At the end of the seminar, the participants were presented with a certificate of attendance.

Facilitators for the program were the National Chairman of ACUSN, Mr. Musa Ehizoje and Mr. Enesi Habeeb. Others Include the Vice Chairman, Mr. Joseph Oche Onoja and Financial Secretary, Mr. Peter Yakubu.
