Mrs Bukola Olatunji, Global President, Federal Government Girls’ College Bida, Old Girls Association, (FEGGICOBIDOGA), has advised parents to teach their children sex education early in life to reduce moral decadence.

Olatunji said this in Abuja on Friday at a news conference to commemorate the 48th Founder’s Day of the college, its first Global Reunion and Annual General Meeting (AGM).

She said that there was need for everyone to know that no age is s too young to disseminate sexuality information and its outcomes to school children.
According to her, it is an assignment for every parent to take care of their children by giving them a strong foundation.

”Doing this will not make them to doubt their sexuality and venture into either homosexuality or lesbianism.

“Teaching children sex education makes them know their rights and when to find help,” she said.
She recalled that unity colleges were schools sought after in the past while calling on parents, politicians and other stakeholders to bring back the glory of the schools.

She said the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mrs Aisha Ahmad, was among the dignitaries expected to grace the first reunion scheduled for a later date.

According to her, goodwill messages will be delivered by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; First Lady of Niger, Dr Amina Bello; Africa Director, MacArthur Foundation, Dr Kole Shettima and President-General of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), Mr Lawrence Wilbert.
She listed other activities lined up for the reunion to include the presentation of awards of recognition to deserving organisations, inauguration of chapters, swearing-in of the new global executives among others.

Meanwhile, the Global Secretary of the association, Mrs Angela Atanda, said that the association was collaborating with USOSA to get adequate security for students while at school.

Atanda said that security issue is everybody’s business, hence stakeholders must work with the government to provide security for schools and students.

“We have our national body which is USOSA working closely with the government to ensure schools are secured.

”They have done so much in providing perimeter fencing in all the unity schools, so we can guarantee the safety of our children,” she said. (NAN)
