…says his vision is to revamp football 

Newly elected Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, BSFA, Barr. Paul Edeh says his vision to revamp football, especially at the grassroots will fully come to a limelight.

At the BSFA Elective Congress held yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital, the astute Sports Administrato and Founder Ratels Sports Development Foundation, RSDF had a landslide victory after he pulled 29 votes to beat his opponent, former Flying Eagles, Coach Chief Godwin Uwah who won only one vote.

In his acceptance shortly after his oath of office, Edeh reiterated his campaign promises bothering on returning football to its glorious days in the State.

“I will introduce and pursue vigorously into the anals of the Benue Football ecosystem a programme I intend to tag the EduBall Naija. The idea behind the programme is to infuse education with football at the grassroots to encourage young Benue indigens to combine eduction with football. This programme will be pursued vigorously at the grassroots level through the local FAs and affiliate members throughout the State in order to promote education as a panacea for achieving success in football.”

Edeh immediately hit the ground running by a personal donation of #10 million and a Sienna bus to the Benue State FA, with lots of long term promises ” I will Increase investment in football development, more impact through the achievement of football development objectives, continued Increased investment in football development and impact through the achievement of football development objectives continued oversight to ensure that all funds are used responsibly oversight to ensure that all funds are used responsibly”

Edeh who birthed two female clubs, Ratels fc of Abuja and Honey Badgers fc of Makurdi continued that “Data collection would be a significant feature in my administration. A state as big as Benue, rich in football talents should have a database where list of football teams at grassroots level are known to the FA with a click of the bottom.

The FA should be able to know how each local FA and other member Associations are farning within its sphere.  We should be able to know how many coaches and Referees we have in the State. We should have the list of players at all levels documented. Ex players as well. This will help the FA understand the areas that require crucial intervention.”

Edeh’s victory alongside 10 other candidates was announced by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Msugh Aga in the presence of manyo observers including Head of Special Duties, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ali Abubakar.
