Bingham varsity students observe Vice-Chancellor’s Day in style

Members of the Students’ Body of Bingham University have observed its Vice Chancellor’s day in a unique way.

As part of the activities marking the day, the Centre For Innovation, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Studies (CIELS ) designed a leadership training course, where students were given opportunity to act as one day Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar and in other key positions.

Activities began in the early hours of Friday, June 23, as selected members of the students body were seen reporting to their designated offices to carry out the activities of the day.

Some of the actors were visited by the correspondence of the university.

Speaking from the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr Otene Boniface who acted in the capacity of the Vice-Chancellor, described the exercise as a wonderful experience that exposed him to practical leadership skills.

Boniface said that as students, they were not conversant with how university administrators was being run, but appreciated the university’s management for giving them the rare privilege to see things first hand.

Other members of the student body who acted in principal positions of the university were: Mr Ugbede Akubo as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Success Olanma as Registrar, Esther Francis as Bursar, Gadzama Luka as University Librarian, Dennis Godson as Director Academic Planning, Gana Yisa as Dean, Student Affairs and Mr Onoja Armstrong as university Chaplain .

The team members commended the Vice-Chancellor and the management of the university for entrusting the university under their care.

The team described the exercise as one of the many innovations of the forward thinking management of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Williams Qurix and his team which was geared towards developing the capacity of its graduates in the development of leadership skills.

The students thanked the university management for according them the opportunity to have a glimpse into how university administration was run.
