Croatia on Friday evening, December 9, landed in the semi-finals of the on-going World Cup in Qatar after beating hit favourites Brazil following penalty kicks.
The match ended barren in regulation time but Brazil seemed headed for victory when Neymar scored during extra time (105th minute).
However, their joy was shortlived when Croatia equalised through Petkovic in the second half of extra time (116th minute).
In the ensuing penalty kicks, the Croatians won 4-2. They scored all four of their spot-kicks.
As for Brazil, Rodrygo, who took his team’s first kick, was denied by the brilliant Dominik Livakovic while’s Marquinhos’ crucial fourth kick struck the post.
That sent Croatia into the semi-fanals, where they will meet the winners of the next match between Netherlands and Argentina.
