…Day 1 Opens with Brilliant performance from Defending Champions
Defending champions of the national Under-17 Cricket Boys Championship kicked off in Benin City on Thursday with a the defending champions , the North West putting up a superb defense title opener with a huge win against South East.
The high point of the day’s games saw Kingsley from South East scoring the first half century of the tournament. In Match 1, North West vs South East, the North West won by 5 wickets
The second game of the day saw the South-South team winning against the North Central in what has been described as a nerve wrecking encounter. In Match 2, South-South vs North Central, the South-South team won by 2 wickets.
The tournament tagged “National Under-17 Cricket Championship Boys” Final is powered by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria and got off to a thrilling start in Benin City with 2 exciting games on match day 1 as listed above.
The winners North West and runner up South-South from the last edition were seeded into 2 groups A1 and B1 with other teams balloted into both groups. 30 overs ODI format was adopted for the tournament in the group games while 40 overs will be applied in the Final.

Day 2
Match 3: South East vs South-West (8:30am)
Match 4: North-West vs South-West (1:30pm)
Day 3- Semi Final.
Match 5: 1st of Group A vs 2nd of Group B (8:30am)
Match 6: 1st of Group B vs 2nd of Group A (1:30pm)
Day 4- Final.
Match 7: Winner Match 5 vs Winner Match 6. (9am).
The Tournament Coordinator, Mr. Musa Ehizoje Bodie has promised Cricket lovers across the country of very exciting moments inbthe year’s edition. The female version just ended in Benin City last week with the South South Under-17 team emerging champions. Both tournaments are sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
