The T 200 Foundation has distributed food, drinks and other relief materials to over 7, 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State.
The fed displaced persons include 4, 195 children between the ages of 0-five and five to 17, 1, 555 women and 2, 250 men at the Christian Association in Nigeria (CAN) EYN IDP camp, Maiduguri, the state capital.
Distributing the food, drinks and other relief items, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri, the Executive Director, Emmanuel Osadebay disclosed that; “We’re feeding the hungry living in IDP camps in the Northeast,” adding that the displaced persons were in camps for over eight years, with inadequate food to overcome hunger.
Besides, he added that the Foundation also provides grants that support local services including food and shelter for the IDPs affected by the over a decade conflict in the state.
“Our objective was to work together in providing assistance to those most in need for both food and shelter,” he said.
Speaking of the IDP children, he said that they are awarded with packaged gifts containing food, drinks, biscuits and chocolates for winning in the memorization of the 26 alphabets, counting from one-100 and current affairs.
While the women and their husbands were given rice, spaghetti and other food items in feeding the hungry IDPs in camps.
“We are feeding the displaced persons their stomachs and making the children smile during the five-hour programme at the camp,” he noted.
He said the children were accompanied by their mothers to the podium during the memorization and current affairs programme.
