Jonathan Arrives Bauchi for 2026 Democracy Dialogue

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has arrived in Bauchi ahead of the 2026 Democracy Dialogue of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF), scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Jonathan disclosed his arrival in a statement on Sunday, expressing appreciation to the Bauchi State Government and residents for the warm reception accorded him.

The former president said the dialogue would take place at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre, Bauchi, and would bring together distinguished participants from across Africa and beyond.

He commended the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for the hospitality extended to him and other participants ahead of the event.

“I deeply appreciate the Government and good people of Bauchi State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, for their warm hospitality and gracious reception,” Jonathan said.

He expressed optimism that the conference would provide an opportunity for meaningful discussions on the state of democracy and governance in Africa.

Jonathan said he looked forward to participating in “thoughtful and constructive conversations” with participants at the dialogue.

According to him, the deliberations at the conference would contribute to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting good governance across the continent.

“I am confident that the Conference’s deliberations will contribute meaningfully to the strengthening of democratic institutions and the advancement of good governance on our continent,” he said.

The 2026 Democracy Dialogue is being organised by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation as part of its efforts to promote democratic values, good governance and sustainable development in Africa.
