LONE CASUALTY OF ABUJA TRAIN ACCIDENT IDENTIFIED AS NTA PERSONNEL

The lone casualty in the Abuja train accident of Thursday has been identified as a female member of staff of the Nigeria Television Authority, Selimota Suleiman.

Confirming the report, the management of the NTA said that Selimota Suleiman was on her way to work when she was crushed to death by a Kaduna-bound train on Thursday morning at the Chikakore axis of Kubwa in Abuja.

The late Suleiman was a principal accountant with the finance department of the national broadcast station until her untimely death.

“A Kaduna bound Train Thursday morning crushed a female driver of a car to death at the Chikakore axis of Kubwa in Abuja.

“The deceased, Selimota Idowu Suleiman, an NTA Channel 5 Abuja Staff was on her way to the Office when she met her untimely death”, the NTA posted on Twitter.

The Network reported it gathered that the deceased who was driving her car was crushed by the fast moving train as she made to cross the rail line a few minutes from the Kubwa Train Station.

The FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, had confirmed the incident to the media on Thursday.

“We are aware of the unfortunate incident of rail/motor fatal accident that happened at the Chikakore axis in the Kubwa area council of the FCT.

“Upon receipt of the information, police crime scene investigators attached to the Byazin Divisional Police Headquarters were drafted swiftly to the scene, took charge of the situation, where the victim was confirmed dead by medical practitioners on the ground.

“Investigation has commenced by the railway division having jurisdiction over the track. Findings and safety tips already existing will soon be reiterated to ensure a non-repeat of such incidents.”
